Tom is the firm’s aviation expert, leading airport terminal, long-span airplane hangar and cargo facility projects throughout the U.S. and internationally.

Thomas Poulos joined Thornton Tomasetti in 1997 and has been practicing structural engineering for more than 25 years. His broad base of experience includes airport facilities, sports arenas and stadiums, recreational facilities, and high-rise and complex mixed-use buildings. Tom uses his expertise in long-span structural steel roof design and his design-build experience to create innovative, efficient structural solutions for challenging projects in the Middle East and throughout the U.S.

Tom leads the firm’s Aviation market sector and is recognized for his ability to master intricate structural challenges; he also possesses strong leadership skills that keep projects within a client’s schedule and budget constraints. His aviation portfolio encompasses airport terminals, long-span A380 airline hangars and cargo facilities.

Contributing to the Profession
Tom is a former adjunct professor at the Illinois Institute of Technology and has authored several award-winning papers.
