Climate change. Evolving socioeconomic issues. Volatile geopolitics. Borderless disease outbreaks. It’s a rapidly changing world. Master planning is an opportunity to maximize long-term sustainability and resilience. And it’s the most cost-effective way to make the greatest positive impact on the built environment.

Master planning takes a holistic, long-term look at an entire site and provides a guide for growth and development. A thoughtful master plan is proactive about limiting potential vulnerabilities and introducing synergies and efficiencies at scale. And it considers not just how a development will grow and perform economically, but also how the people who occupy it will live, work and thrive.

Here's How

We collaborate with stakeholders to identify their goals and outline strategies to meet them. Then we gather data: collecting information on past events; assessing current codes, standards and guidelines; researching current and potential hazards, along with their likelihood and impacts; and projecting future conditions. Next, we leverage innovative technology to build models – of climate impacts and adaptive infrastructure, pedestrian flow and comfort, threat mitigation measures, and much more – and use them to develop and refine the program. Finally, we craft a customized, results-driven plan and deliver a road map for implementation.

And after that? We can work with you to make the vision a reality, and to make any updates or adjustments needed over time. We’re with you for the whole journey.

There's No "One Size Fits All"

From blast analysis to bioclimatic design. From pedestrian flow to transportation planning. From emergency preparedness plans to zero-carbon roadmaps. We tailor our approach and our deliverables to each project.

We bring a diversity of disciplines to the table. The people who work on our master-planning projects are subject-matter experts and active practitioners who contribute in-depth knowledge across a wide range of specialties. So we can build a team that has the expertise that’s right for your project and priorities. And our technological tools – many developed in-house – provide powerful methods for gathering, organizing, analyzing and visualizing the enormous amounts of data needed to get the best results.
