Krista Raines Joins Thornton Tomasetti’s Sustainability Practice in the San Francisco Office

Thornton Tomasetti, the international engineering firm, announces that Krista Raines, LEED AP BD+C, LFA has joined the firm’s San Francisco, Calif. office as vice president. She will provide senior-level support to the firm’s Sustainability practice in the Bay Area and Pacific Northwest region as well as across the U.S. She will also lead the San Francisco Building Analytics team.

With more than a dozen years of experience in sustainable design and project management, Raines’ technical skill set includes energy, carbon, thermal, daylight and wind modeling, renewable energy and life cycle analysis, building water calculation and green building certification.

Raines’ project portfolio spans such sectors as commercial, transportation, higher education, residential, hospitality and retail, as well as master planning on five continents. Her work includes the master plan for San Francisco’s 393-acre Treasure Island and New York City’s Hudson Yards, and sustainability consulting for the Joan and Sanford I. Weill Neurosciences Building at University of California San Francisco and Lotte World Tower in Seoul, South Korea.

Prior to joining Thornton Tomasetti, Raines was a sustainable design leader at stok in San Francisco, where she started the building enclosure commissioning and daylight analysis service lines to increase the firm’s sustainability offerings to its clients. She previously held positions at Perkins+Will, Kohn Pederson Fox Associates and Skidmore, Owings & Merrill.

Raines holds a master’s degree in architecture and sustainable environmental design from the Architectural Association in London, and a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Southern California. She is a licensed architect in California, a LEED Accredited Professional Building Design + Construction and holds the Living Future Accreditation.

She is a member of the American Institute of Architects, International Building Performance Simulation Association, National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, U.S. Green Building Council and the International Living Future Institute.
