Our People

Darell Lawver P.E., S.E.

Associate Principal

Darell Lawver is an associate principal in our Applied Science practice and specializes in blast-resistant structural design. Since 2001, Darell has worked with the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology’s Energetic Materials Research and Testing Center to support full-scale blast tests and develop simplified tools for structural engineers to use in the blast-resistant design of steel and concrete structures. His support for this project includes using NLFLEX, our proprietary finite element software, to perform pretest predictions on elements subjected to blast loading. Darell works regularly with multiple government agencies, including the U.S. Department of Defense, Department of Energy and Department of State, to develop guidelines for blast resistant design. He has led numerous projects for these agencies involving anti-terrorism/force protection, explosive safety and design for airport facilities, border patrol and other government buildings. Darell is experienced in both single degree of freedom (SDOF) methods and high fidelity physics-based approaches for evaluating the blast resistance of structures.
